Personal

Over the last year, I have been inspired to make art out of items that are often overlooked and thrown out. Beginning with a thrift store run where I was inspired by a collection of old National Geographic magazines, I started curating collages using magazines, an Exacto knife, and Mod Podge. After compiling these collages, I scanned them to be developed into digital prints. I currently have both originals and prints of my work displayed at local bars in my hometown. While my process may be more time extensive and hands-on than fully digital collages, I found there is something special about taking materials that otherwise may not get a second life and creating something thought-provoking out of them that makes the laborious process all the more enjoyable. Since starting these collages, I have begun experimenting with textiles by patchworking old clothes, conveying the same mindset of turning something old into something new.
